Both penthouses at the north end have long terraces. These as well as
other north and east balconies offer great skyline views, according to real estate agent
Wes Walker. Surprisingly, from the trailer's pseudo-balcony, Sears Tower and a stretch of
skyline are visible. Obviously, an upbeat "glass is half full" kind of guy,
Walker says "That's the advantage of the viaduct--it protects the view.
With their open layouts, the units have a loft-y ambience with the advantages of new
construction, which will include new sidewalks, of course, according to Walker who, with
his spikey short blond hair and black goatee, appears to be right out of central casting
as the marketing real estate agent with an edge--except for his low-key presentation.
The trailer model is incomplete: The hood over the built-in gas cook-top stove will be in
metal, not birch, for example; the trailer windows do not duplicate the walls of windows
that will be part of these units.
But, the model sports enough of the good stuff to get the attention of a prospective
buyer. |

The sparely decorated model focuses attention on some of the standard
amenities: maple hardwood floors; Shaker-styled maple kitchen and bathroom cabinetry with
sleek stainless hardware; and stainless kitchen appliancesThe sleek bathroom set-up was
new to me: There's a vanity and commode then a glass panel and an opening to a single
ceramic-tiled enclosure with side-by-side 6-foot tub and 6-foot-long shower. Cool...
There are nearly a dozen floor plans and I suggest a look at all of them.
Knowing (from the model) what the basic materials and layouts are will help prospects in
visualizing what some of the other units might be like. If I were looking here, I'd check
out 201, a one-bedroom, 1 1/2-bath unit with 1,406 square feet. It's a north-south oblong
unit, with an angled south wall. The living/dining area is roughly 25 by 18 feet, with
good-sized, adjacent, open kitchen plus a 9-by-10-foot breakfast area that opens to the
balcony. At the south end is a powder room, a 13-by-21-foot master bedroom, a pair of
large closets and a master bath. Downer (for me, personally): It's on the street side. |
